Smaller and lighter ABS oil pump motors. In the automotive sector, the trend towards smaller and lighter motors involves a constant balance between lower fuel consumption and consumer demand for more options. Aisin Seiki in Japan, produces a highly compact design. The Somaloy®- based motor offers comparable performance, but is 36% shorter and weighs 17% less. Somaloy® technology with its intrinsic freedom to apply 3D design, has been utilized in the following ways to create a more compact motor:
Modular assemblyThe motor has individual pre-wound teeth with a built-in mounting feature for assembly. This design utilizes some important Somaloy® features. The 3D flux capability and rounded, smooth finish ensure windings with a high packing factor and good thermal conductivity.
This free piston cooler is produced by the TwinbirdCorporation of Japan. The linear motor drive containstwo Somaloy® stator parts. As a result, the assembly is easier and cheaper to manufacture comparedto the laminated predecessor.
The right material in the right place The axial flow motor combines both Somaloy® and laminated steel in one and the same motor. The Somaloy® teeth provide a smooth rounded finish for winding with a high packing factor. The compacting technology for 3D flux and built-in skew is utilized. The laminated steel stack carries the 2D flux in the back iron and also acts as an assembly feature for the teeth.
