Applications
Attractive bonding properties – high strength and good resistance to corrosion and oxidation – mean that high-temperature brazing has been widely adopted by component makers for complex-shaped stainless steel parts. Consequently, brazing applications are found in areas such as the automotive, aerospace and tool industries, where high demands exist for strength and fatigue-, corrosion- and oxidation resistance.
Brazing using copper-, nickel- or iron-based brazing filler metals is commonly used in automotive, industrial and domestic heat exchangers. High-temperature brazing offers bonding solutions even for heat exchangers that operate in particularly corrosive conditions such as the EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) coolers used in diesel engines.
