A major cleanup

North American Höganäs has upgraded and automated its wastewater treatment plant in Johnstown to ensure that the minimum possible amount of untreated water is released into the sewer system. Efforts are also underway to recycle all water from alloys atomizing.

In Stony Creek, scrap iron powder that previously went to landfill is now used for shot-blasting bridges, while a new initiative sees electric arc furnace bag-house dust being recycled.
