- What is the objective of the PowdrIQ?
To explore new applications for metal powders in sectors where they are not yet used, with a focus on sustainability, efficiency, and innovation. - Can I participate alone, or do I need a group?
You can participate alone or in a group of up to four people. - Do I need to be enrolled in a specific university?
No, any university student can participate, but the focus will be on universities with programs in materials engineering, metallurgy, etc. - What is the language of the challenge?
English. All proposals must be submitted in English. - How do I register?
All registrations, whether individual or in groups of up to four people, must be made through this website. Fill out the registration fields, download any materials you have, and submit. - What should my proposal contain?
You should fill out the form on the 'Apply' page where you will find detailed information on what is required. You can also find more information on the section on Competition details from the menu. - By when I can submit my proposal?
The deadline for the first submission is 14 November, 2025. If you are selected for a final round and submission 2, the deadline is 16 February, 2026. - Will I receive any mentoring?
Yes. Höganäs mentors will be available to guide participants as they develop their ideas. - Can I ask questions during the challenge?
Yes. There will be communication channels and possibly webinars or Q&A sessions. - How will my proposal be evaluated?
Based on innovation, feasibility, sustainability, industry relevance. See section scope of the challenge. - What are the prizes?
- 1st place: €5000* + study trip to a Höganäs site
- 2nd place: €2500*
- 3rd place: €1000*
*) Any applicable taxes on the prize are the sole responsibility of the participant. - Who will own the idea I submit?
Intellectual property rights will belong to Höganäs. - What if my idea isn’t selected?
Even if you don’t win, you can still receive valuable feedback and future opportunities with the company. - How will I know if I have been selected for the final?
Finalists will be notified by email around late November 2025. If your concept is selected, you will be invited to further develop your idea into a full blueprint of the application. The final submission i.e. your evolved proposal will need to be submitted 16 February 2026. - What happens if I want to withdraw after submission?
If you decide to withdraw after submitting a proposal, please notify us and your entry will no longer be considered for evaluation, shortlisting, or the final selection.
