Höganäs sponsors the social integration initiative ‘OV Handball and School’

Each week, approximately 600 children in Helsingborg, Sweden, participate in tutoring and training activities organised by ‘OV Handball och Skola – Against Exclusion and for Integration’.

The aim of the initiative is to provide children aged 7 to 13 with meaningful and active leisure time activities through tutoring, playing, and handball training. Early interventions increase the chances of preventing social exclusion and steering children away from criminal environments.

Now, Höganäs is joining as a sponsor.

“We support ‘OV Handboll och Skola’ because it aligns perfectly with our social responsibility strategy. Through the tutoring programmes, we want to help ensure that children in need receive extra support. It feels valuable to contribute to this great initiative,” says Therése Jönmark, SVP HR at Höganäs.

“Höganäs' contribution enables us to expand the project and give even more children the opportunity to participate. We are very grateful for this,” says Joakim Radermacher, partnership manager for ‘OV Handboll och Skola’.

About ‘OV Handboll och Skola’

“OV Handboll och Skola – Against Exclusion and for Integration” has been successfully running for over eight years. The initiative operates in four marginalised areas in Helsingborg, Sweden.

Handball training, hip-hop dance, and tutoring take place in the afternoons, with training led by players from the OV Helsingborg handball club, both male and female, provide positive role models for the children.

Activities are held during most school holidays, with the Summer School being the largest event, involving over 3,800 children over three weeks. In addition, they run handball teams for children with disabilities. The tutoring is tailored to each school’s needs and is managed by around 25 volunteers and staff members.
