REACH, EU regulations
The European Regulation on Chemicals Management, REACH (Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals) aims to provide better information throughout the whole supply chain about the effects of substances, and thereby improve protection to human health and the environment from chemical-related risks. In practice this means that all substances that are manufactured or imported into the EU in quantities greater than 1 metric ton per annum will need to be registered.
Höganäs Sweden AB has registered substances iron, copper, molybdenum, manganese sulphide and triiron phosphide and Höganäs Belgium S.A has registered iron, i.e. substances above 100 tons per year. Following the REACH regulations, substances with lower annual tonnages have been pre-registered for all the Höganäs Europe operations.
