Each year close to three million people died in work related accidents or diseases in the world. The ISO 45001 standard is a global effort to combat this. It takes other international standards in the field into account, as well as the International Labour Organizations' guidelines and various national and international standards and conventions.

"With the standard in place, Höganäs in Brazil has the methodologies in place to ensure that all activities are in line with the best international safety practices," says project manager Victor Teixeir.

Only minor non-conformities were found during the audit, for which the team had action plans already prepared and validated by the auditor.

"For Höganäs team in Brazil, the certification will help us know and manage risks, implement better controls and get the involvement of all coworkers," says Victor.

Grazielle Silva works in Quality Control and is part of the project team. She points out that the certificate has a symbolic value as well.

 "It's good to know that this certification is not going to be another one hanging on the wall, but a guarantee that Höganäs really cares about our health and safety, providing safe conditions for everyone who works here," she says.

Höganäs unit in Brazil was first in the Höganäs Group to take the certification. Next in line is our subsidiary Abril, in Wales.
