Höganäs ventures to meet demand within AM and MIM
Additive manufacturing uses CAD software or 3D scanners to control hardware layering powder in geometric shapes. Through Metal Injection Moulding a fine grain powder with a binder is injected into a mold where a component is formed. Both areas have seen a high level of technical development in recent years and demand is rising.
"Höganäs already has a number of successful metal powders in AM and we see further opportunities to grow rapidly within both AM and MIM, not least through our recent acquisitions of Metasphere Technology and H.C. Starck Surface Technology and Ceramic Powders, says Fredrik Emilsson, CEO of Höganäs AB.
The new product area, Customization Technologies, is part of Höganäs Industrial business area and will work through the entire value chain, from application development and technology support to market development and global sales.
Head of the new area is Kennet Almkvist, who has long and solid experience in additive manufacturing. Kennet is at present Senior Vice President Commercial at Höganäs, a role that he maintains in addition to the new responsibility.
