Cobalt-based alloys for MIM are materials where the cobalt core is alloyed with other metals such as chromium, tungsten, nickel and iron. Along with nickel-based alloys, they are used in tough and challenging environments, which include high temperatures and acids.

Cobalt-based alloys for MIM are used in applications where good corrosion and wear resistance are required. Jet engine turbines and gas turbine generators are two examples of typical industrial applications for cobalt-based alloys. They are also commonly used for dental and medical implants.
