Somaloy®
Somaloy 7P
Somaloy 7P is suitable for applications where low core losses are most important. It also brings excellent thermal properties, and the possibility to give very high mechanical strength with a modified heat treatment.
- Available as a 100-mesh product for active applications such as electric motors
- Lubrication additive is Lube 7P, typically at 0.3 – 0.4%. However, with 7P, die wall lubrication is an option for highest density, reducing the lubricant content to 0.1%
- Compaction at 600 – 800 MPa with heated/controlled die temperature to reach high densities
Component heat-treatment in N2 atmosphere at max 620 °C.
Somaloy 3P
Somaloy 3P is suitable for application where high mechanical strength and permeability is most important.
- It is available for -40 mesh powder.
- Lubrication additive is Lube 3P typically at 0.3% - 0.4%.
- Compaction at 600 – 800 MPa with heated/controlled die temperature to reach high densities.
Component two stage heat-treatment in air+steam atmosphere at max 530 °C.
Somaloy 5P
Somaloy 5P is suitable for applications where low core losses is most important.
- It is available for all the powders -40 mesh, -100 mesh and -200 mesh.
- Lubrication additive is Lube 5P typically at 0.3% - 0.4%.
- Compaction at 600 – 800 MPa with heated/controlled die temperature to reach high densities.
Component heat-treatment in N2 atmosphere at max 650 °C.
Somaloy 1P
Somaloy 1P is the most economical baseline product.
- It is available for all the powders -40 mesh, -100 mesh and -200 mesh.
- Lubrication additive is Kenolube P11 typically at 0.4% - 0.5%.
- Compaction at 600 – 800 MPa to reach high densities.
- Component heat-treatment in air atmosphere at max 530 °C.
