Covered electrodes

Today’s covered electrodes feature significantly improved performance, but filler metal producers and their R&D teams still have opportunities to invent new products and improve existing ones. Höganäs’ broad portfolio of iron powders supports meeting these goals. 

Starting with the extrusion performance of the wet mix onto the core wire, our iron powders stabilise the paste, resulting in lower scrap rates, less risk of cracking and better coating finish. The right selection of iron powders or iron powder mixes improves spatter levels, arc stability, slag detachability and bead appearance, all of which are key to good product performance. Our tight specifications on chemistry and physical properties also help improve the mechanical properties of weld metal.
